Tuesday Takeaways: NFL Week 12 Reactions

It is time for everyone's favorite! Power rankings v.3 is here as we have now somehow been playing football for 3 months! Just like both previous editions we are going to rank each team and major skill position on their performance so far this season, as well as give some of my picks for major awards. To qualify for position power rankings, a player must have played 70% of their teams games, so you may see some omissions. Please comment below your thoughts, some surprise standout players, and your award picks! NBA Notebook 1.0

The NBA season tipped off almost exactly a month ago. With most teams having played close to 15 games we have enough data to start being able to form opinions on each team, coach, and player. With the season in full swing we will be posting each week. The goal for each of these weekly posts is to provide an overview of the league as a whole, as well as some standout performances and takeaways from each week.  I will be experimenting the first few posts with the format and welcome any formatting ideas! If you have any suggestions of what you want to read about for upcoming posts please comment below, along with your initial thoughts on the 2024-25 season! 10/22/24 - 11/20/24 THINGS THAT CAUGHT MY EYE - Will Hardy is a genius when it comes to quick hitters. I love when elite players show their elite skills, and I equally love when elite coaches show their elite skills. When watching the Utah Jazz the thing that stands out to me the most was their SLOB and BLOB play calling. Wi...

Tuesday Takeaways: NFL Week 11 Reactions

We have had 11 weeks of NFL football completed to this point. These are a few things that I found interesting after watching the games from this weekend! Comment below your thoughts or anything that stood out to you from this weekend! 1. Zac Taylor's seat is quite hot. Unless the Bengals make a playoff push and probably win a playoff game, I predict Zac Taylor will be out in Cincy. I think that Zac Taylor is a good coach, but I think there is an argument that his days in Cincinnati are close to over. If you have an MVP level QB, a WR going for the triple crown, statistically the best edge rusher in the league, and are 10th place in the AFC, then there is cause to be fired. While the Bengals have made the Super Bowl once and the AFC Championship twice under Taylor, it feels like it might be time for a change. It looks like it is going to be back to back years missing out on the postseason. There have been extenuating circumstances sure, but the Bengals championship window is right n...

Tuesday Takeaways: NFL Week 10 Reactions

Ten weeks of the NFL season have come and gone! Here are a few of my thoughts from the past slate of games. Comment below anything that stood out to you from this weekend! 1. When will the Chiefs black magic end? They did it again. The Kansas City Chiefs were outplayed for about 59 minutes and 59 seconds this weekend, but still came out victorious. They are such an interesting contender. On one hand they are the two time defending Super Bowl champions and the last undefeated team in the NFL. On the other hand they are barely squeaking out wins against some non-playoff teams, and they simply do not pass the eye test. But we sit here and they are 9-0. Hard to argue against that. It feels like destiny that they will finally lose one of these games. But my fear is that the loss will awaken the offense and Mahomes will start playing like Mahomes again. Regardless of how they may look and how they might be winning games, you cannot really argue that the Chiefs are once again the team to beat...

Tuesday Takeaways: NFL Week 9 Reactions

We have officially made it past the halfway mark of the NFL season! Here are a few things that stood out to me from this past weekend. Comment below any thoughts or reactions you have had from the NFL season up until this point! 1. Look at what happens when you utilize your elite QB! The Los Angeles Chargers are a team that I would not want to play come January. They play the tough, physical type of football that Jim Harbaugh is known for, but they also have a bonafide stud at the QB position. Herbert has often felt like a superstar not fully being allowed to play to his fullest potential. The last four weeks he has quietly played at an MVP caliber level. Over this four game stretch he has averaged over 286 yards per game, with 5 touchdowns and no picks. He has averaged 34 attempts per game compared to the 23 attempts he averaged during the first four games of the year. After back to back losses to the Steelers and Chiefs, it looks like the coaching staff used the bye week to sche...

Tuesday Takeaways: NFL Week 8 Reactions

Another month of NFL football has come and gone, which means it is time for position rankings v.2! With two months under our belt we know which teams are legit, which players had a fluky start, and what coaches are elevating their teams! Like in our Week 4 edition, we are going to do a power rankings of the top teams in the NFL and the top players at each main skill position, as well as some of my picks for the main awards! Things like team performance and injury are calculated into decisions as well as individual statistics. Without further ado, here are my power rankings two months into the season! Comment below what you agree/disagree with! MVP Lamar Jackson Josh Allen Joe Burrow OPOY Derrick Henry Justin Jefferson Ja'Marr Chase DPOY TJ Watt Fred Warner Dexter Lawrence TEAMS Kansas City Chiefs (7-0)  = Detroit Lions (6-1)  +2 Buffalo Bills +2 Baltimore Ravens (5-3)  -1 Philadelphia Eagles (5-2)  NR Washington Commanders (6-2)  NR Houston Texans (6-2) ...

Tuesday Takeaways: NFL Week 7 Reactions

We have finished 7 whole weeks of the NFL season! Comment any thoughts or opinions you had from this past week!   1. Not sure what to make of Russell Wilson's Steelers debut. My eyes and the stats tell me two different stories of Russell Wilson's season debut. He missed easy throws, looked a little frantic in the pocket, and floated some deep balls when he threw them. That being said he had over 260 yards and two touchdowns and a win. I think lots of the success can be attributed to George Pickens having freakish talent and making insane plays. While I did not think Wilson LOOKED great, I will say the offense did look to flow better. I was a person who thought it was very harsh to bench Fields. I must admit the offense did look better for the most part with Russ. I will look to see if this continues. I question if the Steelers can win without Najee keeping the defense honest in the run game. We will see if Tomlin made the right decision at QB, but he is someone that has proven ...
