Moving Forward with the USMNT
I'm not even going to talk about the embarrassing loss the USMNT just suffered to Belgium. Time to think about what is next. The upcoming cycle will be a big one, with the Nations League and Gold Cup, important youth competitions, a home Olympics, a possible Copa America, and actual World Cup qualifiers. Many of the 26 members of this World Cup will be nearing the dreaded age of 30, which is typically the start of a players decline. Many of the 26 members of this World Cup will still be valuable members of the next cycle. Both statements are true. The fact of the matter is I think it is important to create an identity for the National Team. No matter who is in the squad, we play a similar brand, with similar passion. Which is why I hope whoever is at the helm of the USMNT for the next four years finds it important to have roster continuity.
