Tuesday Takeaways: NFL Week 4 Power Rankings

We are a month into the season which means it is time for part 1 of my favorite edition of this series! Positional rankings!  We are now a month into the NFL season and we have a decent idea of what teams are contenders and pretenders, and which players had a fluke hot start and who is legit! It is still early days but we have enough information to form an idea of what the season might look like. Each month we are going to do a ranking of the top teams in the NFL and the top players at each main skill position. On this first power ranking of the season I am acknowledging prior work in the league while mostly factoring in on field production during the 2025 season. Here are my power rankings so far off the first month of the season! Comment below what you agree/disagree with! TEAMS Philadelphia Eagles (4-0) Detroit Lions (3-1) Buffalo Bills (4-0) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) Los Angeles Rams (3-1) Los Angeles Chargers Seattle Seahawks (3-1) Kansas City Chiefs (2-2) Jacksonville Jaguar...

Tuesday Takeaways: NFL Week 3 Reactions

Another week of NFL play means another weekly Hoops and Stuff recap! We discuss things that stood out to us during a crazy Week 3 that was highlighted by comebacks and insane last second plays! Comment below some of your biggest takeaways from Week 3! 1. The Dawg Pound Is For Real The Cleveland defense is making a very strong claim that they are the best unit on that side of the ball in the league. Through three weeks they allow the fewest amount of yards to opponents in the National Football League and are second in the league in sacks. They absolute stifled Joe Burrow and the Bengals in Week 1, they slowed down Derrick Henry and the Ravens in Week 2 until a late fourth quarter push from Baltimore, and they stuffed Jordan Love and the red-hot Green Bay offense. While the offense has predictably struggled, Myles Garrett and Co. might just be good enough to make Cleveland a pesky out for lots of opponents. 2. Big Payday = Big Payoff In Buffalo There was some offseason drama in Buff...

Week 5 Pannell Poll

Enough time has passed that I feel like we can correctly gauge who the best teams in college football are. With the transfer portal and endless roster turnover from year to year, preseason rankings are nearly useless. Now each team has been able to showcase what they got on the field. My rankings are strongly based on on field production. Trying to eliminate as much bias and projection as possible, and rewarding winning. I am trying to rank the teams that have shown me the best on field product so far. Without further ado, here is my NCAAF Top 25 Oregon  (4-0) Miami  (4-0) Ohio State  (3-0) Oklahoma  (4-0) Georgia (3-0) Florida State (3-0) LSU (4-0) Texas A&M  (3-0) Ole Miss  (4-0) Texas Tech  (4-0) Tennessee  (3-1) Missouri  (4-0) Indiana  (4-0) Penn State  (3-0) USC  (4-0) Alabama  (2-1) Michigan  (3-1) TCU  (3-0) Georgia Tech  (4-0) Iowa State  (4-0) Vanderbilt  (4-0) Auburn  (3-1...

Tuesday Takeaways: NFL Week 2 Reactions

We have made it through the first two weeks of the NFL season! It is still extremely early days but we had many eye opening events happen in a very exciting weekend of football. Here are some of the things that stood out to me this weekend. Comment below any thoughts and reactions you have regarding the first two weeks of the season! 1. Lions Are Still Legit There were some quiet questions after the Lions lackluster offensive performance in Week 1 against Green Bay. They quickly shut all those down this week. In Ben Johnson's return to Detroit it was the Lions who proved they do not need the coach who has helped them to so much offensive success over the past few seasons. The Lions ran up the score against their division rivals in a game where Jared Goff threw for 334 yards and 5 touchdowns, all while both Montgomery and Gibbs had success themselves, contributing a score each. I think it is safe to say the Lions have nothing to really worry about. 2. Colts Offense is Clicking! I th...

Tuesday Takeaways: NFL Week 1 Reactions

Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season came and it certainly delivered! What a way to start the season. This also means that we return with our weekly write ups, talking about things that stood out during the slate of games over the weekend. Comment below and let me know what stood out to you during Week 1! 1. Start Your Jet Engine!   Dare I say it, the New York Jets looked...good? Albeit one game, this was probably the most exciting a Jets team has ever looked in my lifetime. Despite ending the game against Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers with a loss, I would be extremely optimistic if I were a Jets fan. Justin Fields played the best game of his career. He impressed in every facet. He navigated the pocket in a manner he has not done in his career, stepping up and delivering big time throws. He was zipping the ball across the field, fitting throws into the tightest of windows. He clearly was happy to have his Buckeye buddy in Garrett Wilson back on his team, as their chemistry was ther...
